CCS Myth Buster Sundowner - Presented by Energy Club NT & APPEA

CO2 capture and storage (CCS) is being talked about more and more and it is sometimes hard to separate the facts from the fake news – is it the key to net zero or a front for the oil and gas industry… or something in between?

Energy Club NT in partnership with APPEA hope to help by hosting a CCS myth busting sundowner to kick off NT Resources Week.

Come along and catch up with some familiar faces – and some new ones – as a selection of CCS experts from around Australia address some of the most common and widely repeated myths and misconceptions about CCS:

  • What is CCS anyway?
  • What does it have to do with climate change – isn’t it just to help the oil and gas industry to keep producing?
  • CCS is unproven.
  • Isn’t Gorgon a failure?
  • Shouldn’t we be focusing on renewables?
  • CCS is too expensive – why would companies invest in it?
  • What does it have to do with the NT – what’s in it for us?

This is a free event. Canapes, beer, wine and soft drinks provided. Registration's close 6 September 2023.
