Energy Club NT is hosting an introductory session as part of October Business Month to explore the fundamentals of Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS)—a vital engineered solution in Australia’s emissions reduction portfolio.

This session is designed for those wanting to better understand the science, policy, and practical application of CCS and its broader umbrella, Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage (CCUS). From how CO₂ is captured and stored deep underground, to the role CCS can play for hard-to-abate sectors like LNG, cement, and steel, this session offers an accessible and balanced overview of the technology’s potential.

We’re pleased to welcome a guest speaker from CSIRO, Australia’s national science agency, to provide an evidence-based overview of CCS in both national and Territory contexts. With decades of applied research and leadership across CCUS technologies, CSIRO will share insights from recent work including Opportunities for CO₂ Utilisation in the Northern Territory and Net Zero Australia, highlighting how the NT is uniquely positioned to support future carbon storage and utilisation initiatives.

Whether you’re new to CCS or looking to deepen your understanding, this session is tailored for SMEs and local businesses seeking a clearer picture of how CCS fits into the evolving energy transition.

CSIRO is Australia's national science agency, dedicated to solving the nation’s greatest challenges through innovative science and technology. It's a multidisciplinary research organisation that collaborates with industry, government, and the research community to translate science into real-world solutions.

Ticket includes:

  • Light tea and coffee refreshments
  • Morning tea
  • ️Virtual reality demonstration of CSIRO’s Low Emissions Hub work
