Global engineering and maintenance services provider, EnerMech, has been awarded a five-year contract for hose and hose fittings supply and services for Shell’s Prelude FLNG Facility in Western Australia.

The Prelude FLNG contract will be administered from EnerMech’s Henderson base in Perth while engineering and service support will be provided from regional facilities across Australia, including Darwin in the Northern Territory.

EnerMech’s Regional Director Allan Hart said: “We are pleased to announce the appointment of EnerMech as the Hose Integrity Management and Supply contractor on the prestigious Prelude FLNG Facility.

“This latest award strengthens EnerMech’s reputation as a leading maintenance service provider with a willingness to adapt to the changing oil and gas environment.”

The Prelude FLNG facility recently arrived at its location 475km north east of Broome where the hook-up and commissioning phase of the project is underway.

Civmec Limited been awarded several contracts by Jemena for work on its Northern Gas Pipeline (NGP) near Tennant Creek in the Northern Territory.

The work includes camp setup, site civil, structural steel fabrication and the Structural, Mechanical, Piping, Electrical and Instrumentation (SMPEI) installation works at the Phillip Creek Compressor Station.

“This is a significant and strategic award for us and combined with the scope growth at the Ichthys Project in Darwin, it will see an enlargement of our on-site capabilities within our oil and gas division and an expansion of our brand in the Northern Territory,” said Civmec CEO Patrick Tallon.

“We are delighted to secure Jemena as a new client and are very focused on ensuring that together we deliver these contracts safely and effectively.”

With site civil works commenced and the SMPEI work scheduled to commence in late September 2017, the project will require more than 160 personnel to be employed at its peak, with completion scheduled for August 2018.

Including this project, the Civmec’s order book stands at approximately $640 million.

The INPEX-operated Ichthys LNG Project’s Floating production, storage and offloading facility (FPSO) was safely moored today in the Ichthys Field, 220 kilometres off the north coast of Western Australia. The massive 336-metre long FPSO, named Ichthys Venturer, is longer than three soccer fields and is an engineering masterpiece, designed for 40 years of operations without dry dock. “The safe and efficient mooring of the Ichthys Venturer in the 250-metre deep waters of the Ichthys Field heralds another successful milestone for the INPEXoperated Ichthys LNG Project,” Mr Louis Bon, Managing Director Ichthys Project stated. “Completing the complex operation of connecting 21 pre-installed mooring chains, weighing more than 15,000 tonnes, from the seabed to the FPSO is testament to the well-coordinated work of our personnel, including contractors and subcontractors from around the globe,” Mr Bon said.

SANTOS wants a Queensland GasFields Commission-style body set up in the Northern Territory and legal fees capped so landholders don’t have to cop what the Sunshine State’s commission calls lawyers “bullying” landholders.

Santos manager public affairs offshore and NT Tom Baddeley told the Territory's fraccing inquiry panel at a hearing in Darwin yesterday that his company recognised the strong relationship between pastoralists and the land they lease, which in some cases stretches back generations. 

However, the company does not believe a right of veto - which the NT Cattleman's Association wants - is appropriate.  

The NTCA argues that a veto would fix the apparent "power imbalance" between gas companies and pastoralists. 

One stakeholder had told the inquiry that the "power imbalance" was a result of pastoralists' "limited experience in undertaking such negotiations compared to explorers, who may have negotiated hundreds of such agreements; and the asymmetry of information regarding the potential impact of the exploration activity". 

That apparent imbalance of power is also there, NTCA argues, because in most cases, rural land holders are legally required to allow explorers to access their land. 

Other stakeholders raised concerns about pastoralists' limited access to independent and affordable legal advice, limited political influence, limited technical knowledge and limited time to negotiate agreements. 

There is no right of veto in Queensland; instead there is a legislative requirement to have an agreement and fair compensation in place before any on-property activity. 

Santos has secured more than 2000 agreements to date in Queensland.

Engineering company Monadelphous Group Limited (ASX:MND) (“Monadelphous” or “the Company”) today announced it has been awarded a number of new work packages with a combined value of approximately $55 million. 

The Company has received a Notice of Award to provide mechanical decommissioning, demolition, civil, structural, mechanical and piping works associated with Shaft 1 and Shaft 2 Surface Infrastructure for the Oyu Tolgoi Underground Project – operated by Oyu Tolgoi LLC mine operations located in the South Gobi region of Mongolia. The works are scheduled to be completed in early 2019. 

In addition, Monadelphous has been awarded a contract for piping modification and fabrication for Technip Oceania Pty Ltd (TechnipFMC) on the hook-up and commissioning phase of Shell Australia’s Prelude Floating Liquefied Natural Gas project in the Browse Basin, approximately 475 kilometres north-northeast of Broome, in Western Australia. 

The Company's renewable energy business, Zenviron, has been awarded a contract, in consortium with Vestas – Australian Wind Technology Pty Ltd, to provide engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning of the 54 MW Salt Creek Wind Farm for Tilt Renewables. The project, located in western Victoria, is expected to be completed in July 2018.

37 Muramats Road, East Arm is a 75,000 square metres waterfront industrial property. Originally designed to be in four stages the owner has decided to construct in two stages. 

The initial stage (A and B) includes a gross area of 44,900 square metres, it includes 150 metres of road on the northern boundary, making the site area nett of the road 41,450 square metres. This block varies in depth from 273 metres up to 326 metres, the waterfront boundary is 150 metres and includes a massive barge loading dock, this dock is 130 metres deep and 75 metres across, this dock dramatically increases the sites water frontage. 

The second stage (C and D) is an additional 30,100 square metres including 2,920 square metres of road. This stage includes 120 metres of water frontage and the block varies between 231 metres and 273 metres. Both these stages combined have a an area nett of the road 68,630 square metres, 270 metres of water frontage and a depth of between 231 metres and 326 metres.

McConnell Dowell has been awarded a construction contract by Jemena for the Northern Gas Pipeline (NGP) Project.

The NGP is a 622 km buried gas pipeline between Tennant Creek and Mount Isa, and upon completion, will connect Northern Territory gas fields with the east-coast gas market.

McConnell Dowell’s scope of work involves the engineering, construction and commissioning of a 481 km section of the pipeline, commencing in the Northern Territory.

The award comes after an extensive early contractor involvement process between Jemena and McConnell Dowell, during which time Jemena secured the necessary approvals and land access to allow the project to move forward.

With this award secured, McConnell Dowell will expeditiously commence site activities over the coming weeks with the first gas expected to run through the pipeline in late 2018.

McConnell Dowell CEO Scott Cummins said the company has industry leading experience in the delivery of cross country pipeline projects.

“This project will build on the successful relationship between McConnell Dowell and Jemena and is a testament of the customer’s confidence in our experience and ability to construct this critical infrastructure link,” said Mr Cummins.

The Northern Gas Pipeline is under construction in the Northern Territory. Jemena was selected by the Northern Territory Government to build and operate the Northern Gas Pipeline in late 2015. The 622km pipeline will connect Northern Territory gas fields with the east coast gas market at Mount Isa in Queensland and will cost $800 million to construct.
